Project LOGICAL – transnational logistics' improvement through cloud computing and innovative cooperative business models - Project website about the transnational logistics cloud project LOGICAL

International conference Logistics and cloud computing, Bologna, Italy, 30th of October 2012

On next 30th of October, Bologna will host an international conference dealing with logistics and cloud computing, organized by the Province of Bologna within the European project LOGICAL in cooperation with Interporto Bologna.

The conference, that will be enriched by the contributions of national and international speakers, is aimed at describing the opportunities that the informatization of logistics processes could provide to businesses and, particularly, to SMEs. A section of the conference will be focused on the presentation of case studies represented by businesses that have started introducing cloud computing in their logistics processes and in their weaving factories.

The event is part of the European Project LOGICAL (financed by the Central Europe programme) whose objective are the improvement of logistics management of businesses through transnational synergies and the implementation of a cloud computing platform working at full capacity in the main European logistics hubs involved in the project.

Call for Papers IT4L, Poland

2nd Workshop on Information Technologies for Logistics (IT4L)

Kraków, Poland, September 8-11, 2013

The main purpose of the workshop is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to present and discuss current issues concerning use of ICT in logistic applications (hardware and software). There will be also an opportunity for hardware integrators, software developers and logistics companies to demonstrate their solutions, as well as achievements, in different logistic systems

The topics of interest include but are not limited to:

  • Innovations in information systems supporting logistics and its management (WMS, SCM, TMS, LIS, VMI, CRP, PLM, and others)
  • Innovative technologies in warehouse management: RFID, Voice Picking, Image Recognition, Pick Radar, etc.
  • Logistics process modeling, including influence of warehouse automatic
  • Optimization of logistics processes:
    • optimal vehicle routing and management, boundary conditions
    • optimal picking routing (global optimization, fast search, collision prediction and prevention)
    • shared mobility systems
    • day-to-day dynamic traffic assignment models
    • effective methods of picking (multi picking, batch picking ect.)
    • relationships between picking efficiency and products decomposition in warehouse area
  • Environmental protection (for example carbon-aware transportation)
  • Artificial intelligence systems and decision support systems in logistics
  • BI, data mining and process mining in logistics
  • Quality management algorithms and methods
  • Material Flow Theory and applications
